Description
The most popular wood in North America, Red Oak has a heartwood appearance that is a light to medium brown, commonly with a reddish cast. Quartersawn sections of the hardwood display prominent patterns.
- Common Names: Red Oak, Oak, Champion Oak,
- Workability: Red Oak lumber machines well, nailing and screwing are good although pre-boring is recommended. Oak finishes when stained nicely.
- Common Uses: Furniture, flooring, architectural millwork and mouldings, doors, kitchen cabinets, paneling and caskets. Just about every U.S. home has some Red Oak in it!
