Description
Massaranduba decking wood is one of the hardest and most durable timber species in the world. With a reddish-brown hue and straight grain, it often is referred to as “Brazilian Redwood.” Massaranduba wood is naturally durable and resistant to rot and decay, making it an excellent choice for exterior applications, while retaining the look of an exotic interior hardwood.
- Considered a cost-effective hardwood substitute for Ipe wood, and is comparable in cost to Cumaru decking.
- Expected life is in excess of 25 years, outlasting other decking species such as treated Pine, American Redwood and Douglas Fir.
- Can be easily stained to an alternate color-hue
- Drying is the weak point of this species, with splits and checks reported as ‘very common’ during the drying process.
